The technical working group is where the Society does its detailed work. It is a forum for members to work through more complex measurement and implementation questions, and a channel for coordinated practitioner input to the SEEA Central Framework update, including the global consultations scheduled through 2026.

The SEEA as reference point, not boundary

The Society's technical work is anchored in the SEEA while engaging constructively with related public, corporate and community sector frameworks. The SEEA is the Society's principal technical reference point rather than a boundary on valid activity.

Terms of reference

The group's terms of reference will set out:

  • who may participate;
  • how topics are selected;
  • the outputs the group is expected to produce;
  • how positions or submissions are approved;
  • whether dissenting views may be recorded; and
  • the relationship between the group and the Society's committee.

Topic-based groups over time

The technical programme could support topic-based groups — for example on ecosystem accounting, water, oceans, corporate applications, valuation, data quality, and the use of accounts in policy. These should emerge from member demand rather than all being promised at launch.

Taking part

Participation is open to members. Register your interest and we will contact you when the group convenes.
