What the rules are

The Society for Natural Capital Accounting is an incorporated association under the Associations Incorporation Act 1991 (ACT). Rather than draft its own constitution at the outset, the Society has adopted the ACT model rules — the standard set of rules provided under that Act. This is a common and deliberate choice for a new association: the rules are tested, publicly available, and familiar to the regulator.

Membership
Who may join, how applications are dealt with, the register of members, subscriptions, and how membership ends.
General meetings
The annual general meeting and any special general meetings — how they are called, what notice is required, what constitutes a quorum, and how members vote.

The founding committee

The current committee is a founding committee. It will guide the Society through its establishment period, and members will elect the committee in accordance with the rules at the first annual general meeting — to be held within eighteen months of incorporation.
